The People CARE Act (H.R. 150) is a proposal to “establish the People-Centered Assistance Reform Effort Commission, to improve the social safety net and increase social mobility by increasing access to resources which address the underlying causes of poverty.”

The bill was introduced to the House on January 3, 2025 by Rep. Warren Davidson (R-OH) and referred to the Committee on Ways and Means and additional committees for review.

The summary of the bill:

  • Evaluate existing welfare programs and identify areas for improvement to better support low-income individuals
  • Create a “People-Centered Assistance Reform Effort Commission” within the legislative branch to conduct this review
  • Examine how to provide better access to resources that address the underlying issues contributing to poverty
