About Blood Assurance
This week’s non-profit spotlight will focus on Blood Assurance. According to their website, “Less than 10 percent of the eligible population donates and Blood Assurance needs every able donor to give blood for patients in the region. Blood Assurance performs up to 13 tests on each unit of blood to ensure that the blood is safe for the recipient.”
Blood donations are used to save people of every age, including those who are most vulnerable and impacted by natural disasters.
Blood type “O” has the greatest demand.
Blood Assurance donations serve local hospitals in Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, Kentucky and North Carolina.
It is licensed by the TN Department of Public Health, Georgia Department of Human Resources and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
What Can I Do?
First and foremost, you can become a volunteer donor. To schedule an appointment, call 800-962-0628 or text BAGIVE to 999777.
In addition to donating blood, if you are in a position to do so, you or your organization can host a blood drive.
Saving Lives
One blood donation can save 3 lives, so help if you are able by donating blood, giving financially or by hosting a drive.
