Following protests across America and around the world on April 5, 2025, there is an opportunity to seize.
This week, I will be sharing ideas on different actions that can be taken in the aftermath of the positive momentum created on April 5.
April 19, 2025 is the Next Protest
However, before diving in today, I want to share that the next protests are scheduled for April 19, 2025, according to an article on Newsweek. This is the anniversary of the start of the Revolutionary War as well as the day before potential invoking of the Insurrection Act of 1807. April 20 is 90 days since the state of emergency was declared by President Trump. Homeland Security has 90 days to “submit a report about” border conditions including whether to invoke the act, according to an article on Live Now Fox.
Get out the Vote: Local Style
2025 is not a federal voting year, but it is a local election. Why not go vote for the elected officials that have the most influence on our day to day lives?
Personally, I like to do my share of research on candidates and even share that with the community. I put together a voting guide for Spring Hill, Tennessee (elections on April 10).
If you are not in Spring Hill, and you are not even in Tennessee, you can easily find information on state and local elections by visiting https://www.usa.gov/state-election-office.
I will be providing a step-by-step approach to using this site.

1. Find your state, click “Go”
That’s it! This will take you to your state Department of State website, where you can find more information about voter registration, find your local elections commission and more!
Each state has a slightly different layout, so you will need to browse a bit to find more details.
Go Vote TN!
Since I live in Tennessee, I will focus in detail on my state. On https://sos.tn.gov/govotetn, find voter registration, your polling locations and your local county election commission. Once you get to the county commission, there are links to upcoming elections – Spring Hill is April 10, Brentwood is May 6! If you click on a link to a local election – like https://www.maurycounty-tn.gov/227/Election-Commission – you will find sample ballots, candidate information and details on where to vote.
Coming Up Tomorrow
Tomorrow the action is to write and call your representatives. I will be writing about how to find your reps in Washington and how to track bills that are coming up to the floor.
